Wedding bells for Kenya’s celebrity couple Cece Sagini and Victor Peace are ringing louder than ever before. This after the bride-to-be and her bridesmaids came together for her bridal shower.

They say that nothing makes any bride-to-be feel special than a bridal shower with her closest friends, and Cece’s was no exception.

Over the weekend, the singer’s close friends came together and threw her a surprise party to celebrate the impending nuptials.

Cece, who recently made the switch from secular music to gospel music, took to her Instagram to share a picture of what looks like a fun bridal shower.

She captioned it: “Thank you lovely ladies for the surprise bridal shower this past weekend 💋💋🤗… and a big shout to bestie for planning, I loooooooved it.”

Cece, who together with photographer Victor Peace share their journey through vlogging, promised to put up a video of the bridal shower.

The lovebirds held their traditional wedding – Ruracio/Ekeragerio – in June. The traditional wedding rite came less than two years after Victor Peace, a lifestyle photographer popularly known for This is Ess blog photos, went down on one knee on live TV during Cece’s interview on the Trend.

Their wedding is expected anytime from now following the bridal shower.

Cece, in a recent interview, declined to reveal the date for the big day, saying: “Well, we will keep that private, you can’t put everything out there; we have to maintain some boundaries.

“As much as we are public figures we have to consider our relatives, there are things in the African culture that you just don’t do. So don’t worry you will see the photos once it’s done.”

“No Child Support Money Until a DNA Test is Done” Jalang’o Tells Off Baby Mama

Popular radio personality Felix Oduor popularly known as Jalang’o has issued a stern message to a woman allegedly extorting money from him over child support.

Speaking during his show at Hot96, Jalang’o stated that the baby mama was claiming that he fathered her son and was using it to blackmail him into sending money.

He explained how he met the woman when he was starting out in the industry over 10 years ago but she dumped him after she visited him in Mwiki where he lived and realizing that he was not as rich as expected.

“When she came visiting me in Mwiki she realized that it isn’t all glitter and glam. She visited me twice in my place and after visiting me the second time she was like this is not the life she expected so she broke it off and got into another relationship,” narrated Jalas.

He noted that the woman moved on with another man, and he moved to Kiss 100 where things took an upward spiral as he made it big.

Realising that Jalang’o had hit the jackpot, the woman called him and told him he was a father. He demanded a DNA test upon which the woman threatened to spill the beans to the press that he was a deadbeat dad.

“One day she called me and told me there is something she wanted to tell me, at that time I was at Kiss, everybody knew Jalang’o. She wanted to come back because things were picking up for me. She later told me had been pregnant, had a baby and the child was mine,” he added.

Jalas then kept his mouth shut to save face and image that he had built over the years. This week, however, he appears to have had enough and told the woman to go ahead and make good her threats.

He said he was not going to pay a single shilling anymore unless DNA is done.

“I was always trying to protect my brand. Nobody could know about this.” He said on why he tolerated what was going on.

“I have never seen that child up to today and the kid is about 9 to 10 years. It’s a hard situation being in the limelight, some people don’t understand what we go through.

“My main reason to come out is for her to know I’ve opened up about this story. No more money until the DNA test is done,” said Jalang’o.

Ex-Citizen TV news anchor Terryanne Chebet has for the first time introduced her newborn baby to the world.

The celebrated media personality and founder of Scarlet Digital delivered a bouncing baby girl three weeks ago. Coincidentally, the newborn arrived exactly a year after Terryanne Chebet was retrenched by Royal Media Services.

Taking to her Instagram account, Terryanne noted that the coincidence was God’s “incredible sense of humor.”

“A mother’s joy begins when new life is stirring inside… When a tiny heartbeat is heard for the very first time, and a playful kick reminds her that she is never alone…. She arrived on the 26th of October.

“On the exact date last year I received a letter informing me of my retrenchment. Is it just a co-incidence? God does have an incredible sense of humour. I am truly and deeply thankful,” wrote Terryanne.

“It Happened Through Osmosis” DJ Mo Jokes About Fathering DJ Pierra’s Daughter

It is an observation that just won’t fade away into oblivion; the striking resemblance between the daughters of Kenyan disc jockeys Sammy Muraya alias Dj Mo and Dj Pierra Makena.

The former Tahidi High actress and media personality gave birth to a bouncing baby girl, Ricca Pokőt, in July last year. In a past interview on K24 television, Pierra disclosed that she would be raising the child as a single mother because she broke up with the baby’s daddy just before she discovered that she was pregnant.

Meanwhile, gospel’s celebrity couple DJ Mo and Size 8 were about eight months in, since welcoming their daughter, Ladasha Belle Wambui.

For months since Ricca’s arrival, social media users have been left intrigued by the uncanny resemblance between the two celebrity babies.

This has led DJ Mo to speak up about rumors that he might have sired baby Ricca Pokőt.

The Crossover 101 resident DJ has, however, laughed off the rumors saying he laughs whenever someone says he is Pierra’s baby daddy.

Speaking on Dr. Ofweneke’s The Tonight Show, DJ Mo revealed that he was good friends with Pierra and the striking resemblance between their daughters was mere coincidence.

“No am not the father. Actually Pierra is a good friend of mine. Like the other day we were laughing and am like kwani this thing happened and we didn’t know. It happened through osmosis,” DJ Mo joked.

Gone are the days when it was crucial for wives to submit to their husbands but singer Emmy Kosgei is keeping the practice alive.

The celebrated gospel singer has been married to Nigerian preacher Anselm Madubuko for about 5 years now. From pictures shared by Emmy Kosgei on social media, the two make up one of the most enviable couples.

And it appears the secret to their happy marriage is partly due to Emmy Kosgei’s submission as a dutiful wife. This became apparent on social media yesterday when Emmy Kosgei shared a picture kneeling before her husband.

She accompanied the picture with some deep and wise words about humility, noting that some little acts might look foolish but they add value.

She wrote: “Humility is never a weakness in life.. pride as they say comes before a fall,it doesn’t hurt to humble yourself,it doesn’t take anything out of you it actually adds! You remain a rib and helper to him regardless of you status financially or otherwise, must you be right always? Must your point come through always? Must you announce your contribution in your marriage? Must it be known that you do all things? Learn to tame your character, learn to bite your tongue. Treat hime like a king👑 that he is,love and honor him…. some little acts look foolish but it adds value! Do it out of love! Wisdom is profitable! Step down from 7th flr. #Godinthecentre#silencehaspower #stayhumble #killpride#relationshipgoals💍#wekeeplearning”

The picture elicited some negative reactions from her followers and Emmy had the right answers for them.

  • mom_angel_the_iron_lady: Not by kneeling for him only for God not a husband cheeiiiii abomination
  • emmykosgei: @mom_angel_the_iron_lady continue standing my dear! Its a choice… you can even be boss lady 😂😂😂 kneeling is my own honor to my king😉
  • veromartins1: Sawa Emmy,hapa what were you doing?@emmykosgei

“Comedy is a Serious Business,” Says Churchill as New Talent Search Show Premieres

Veteran Kenyan comedian Daniel Ndambuki alias Churchill is once again heavily involved in the development and nurturing of new comedians in the industry.

Through the new talent search show dubbed ‘The Ultimate Comic’, Churchill, in partnership with Maisha Magic East, aims to grow new talent in the comedy industry and give a chance for both the young and old alike to realize their dreams.

36 contestants have already been selected to go head to head for the coveted top prize of a TV contract, Sh1 million, and a car.

“Thirty-six comedians are going to step up on the stage. Maybe not all will end up doing professional comedy, but out of the 36, I’m sure five will make it in the industry, and that is a big addition to the industry,” Churchill said.

“What I can tell the upcoming comedians is that they are the future and it takes time. It has taken me 15 years to be here, and they don’t have to take that long. They just need to understand the direction they want to take and focus on it. Follow your heart and your passion. If have it, you have it; it is what it is.”

Churchill, who has mentored most Kenyan comedians, also spoke about his joy in seeing each one curve their own niche in the industry.

“I feel like a headmaster to the comedians I have mentored. The dream of every teacher is to see all of you end up doing something good for your careers. There is no teacher who wishes for students to become subordinate members of staff, one who winds up slashing grass in a school you went to. No teacher will want that,” Churchill said.

He added: “Comedy is a serious business. If you don’t laugh, that means you have more problems than we can make you laugh. So just appreciate, support us, pay, don’t ask for complimentary tickets. We need that money so that you don’t say we are broke. Parents, if you have a talented kid, encourage them, you never know. It is a new market and I am sure the future is content, and once the content is put on a digital platform and on your phones, I think in two to three years, we shall be talking of a different story.”

Why Tanzanian Actress Elizabeth Michael Has Told Family Not to Appeal Sentence

The East African region was earlier this week shocked when a High Court in Dar es Salaam sentenced Tanzanian actress Elizabeth Michael “Lulu” to two years in jail.

Lulu was found guilty of manslaughter for the death of former Bongo Movie Star Steven Kanumba.

The late Kanumba died on April 7, 2012, at Sinza Vatican areas in Kinondoni District after a quarrel with the actress, with whom he was reportedly in a romantic relationship with.

Following the ruling on Monday, Lulu who was initially shocked by the ruling, has since come to accept it saying it was God’s decision.

And although her lawyer, Peter Kibatala, had indicated that he would appeal the ruling, Lulu has reportedly instructed against it.

According to Lulu’s fellow actor and a very close friend Muhsin Awadh popularly known as Dk Cheni, Lulu has been brave amidst the circumstances saying two years is a short time.

Acheni miaka miwili siyo mingi, sitaki kupingana na mahakama , naheshimu maamuzi ya mahakama, acheni nitumikie kifungo changu,” Lulu was quoted saying by Dk Cheni.

There’s new beef in town pitting singer Akothee against a Kenyan on Twitter after the two exchanged obscenities on social media.

The online war started with the Kenyan on Twitter, one Bel Akinyi who was tipped to be the next Kenyan socialite a few years ago. According to Akinyi, who is now best known for controversial posts on Twitter, “Akothee is always pushing for sponsorship culture.”

In a series of tweets, Akinyi claimed that the ‘Baby Daddy’ singer “is committed in promoting wh*re culture amongst young women.”

“Is Akothee really a singer or whoring ambassador? Why not use that position to shape up thinking of young ladies to study, work for their money instead of putting their hopes on old, smelling wrinkled men. Uplift women don’t downgrade them as slaves for ancestor money,” post Bel Akinyi.

Here are screengrabs of her tweets.

When Akinyi’s words finally reached Akothee, there could only be one outcome; a savage backlash.

Not one to mince her words, Akothee hit back on Instagram in a long post.

“You are busy analysing how I made my money yet you heard about me 3 years a go when fame hit the frame fool! Do you have any brains ? If sex would make people rich! why are you still broke?” quipped Akothee.

She added: “It’s just that you ain’t a celebrity so no one knows your shit! Bulshit, get a coner sit down & continue analysing & getting broke with a heart full of bitterness , you can’t sit with me.”

It’s official. Veteran media personality Amina Abdi is the new host of NTV’s ‘The Trend.’ The sassy television and radio presenter was last Friday unveiled as the new host of the popular entertainment show.

Amina hosted her first show in front of a live audience at the new University of Nairobi Chandaria auditorium.

Since Larry Madowo’s exit in June, the show has been without a permanent host with the likes of Ciru Muriuki, Cindy Ogana, Anita Nderu, Njambi Koikai, Dr Kingori, and others holding down the fort.

Former Nation FM presenter Ciru Muriuki also recently left ‘The Trend’ and hosted her last show just a week before Amina’s unveiling.

With Amina’s arrival, the show has also been revamped with new segments and according to NTV’s Head of TV, the Capital FM presenter is exactly what the Friday night show needs.

Asked why they settled on her? He said; “Amina presents a new fresh air of breath in the entertainment and she has a 360 degree understanding of the entertainment industry. She is the new face of entertainment, from TV, radio to emcing and that is what NTV was looking for.”

He added: “We wanted her to feel welcome and that is why we unveiled her at a concert and not at our studios, but from next week she will be hosting the show right here in the studios.”

Amina is vastly experienced having hosted radio shows and two other television shows. She has been hosting the popular radio show, Hits not Homework at Capital FM for the past five years.

Until her new job at Nation Media Group, Amina had been hosting K24’s morning show Alfajiri for two years.

She is also an experienced emcee, voice-over artist, and a singer.

Vivian: “I’m Not a Bridezilla and I Don’t Take Weddings Too Seriously”

$

Musician Vivian Wambui is one of the several celebrities expected to walk the aisle before the year ends after her engagement to Sam West about seven months ago.

While the date for the big day is yet to be revealed, the ‘Teren Teren’ singer has opened up about her plans and ideal wedding.

Away from her personal life, Vivian is riding high on the charts following her double release recently of the songs ‘Chingi Changa’ and ‘Always on my Mind’.

She spoke to Buzz about music, fans’ influence in her life and her forthcoming nuptials.

Why the double release?

The content demand out there; I had recorded the songs and shot the videos but because of the political climate I couldn’t release anything since that was all that was trending. So now that things have settled down a bit, it is the perfect time, plus I hadn’t put something out in a while.

How did you get Pallaso on the track ‘Always on My Mind’?

When I did the song ‘Charm’ with Chameleone, Ugandans sort of set their sights on me as a Kenyan artiste. Palasso was on a media tour here and he called my manager and asked to meet me. We met in the studio, decided we had good chemistry and did the song.

There are comments like “I don’t like local music but I’m your fan” on your You Tube page. How do you feel about such sentiments?

When we, the industry, release content that the audience likes then the Kenyan playlist is likely to dominate, but if fans only like one or two songs there is no mass consumption.

I get comments like that a lot. It’s interesting. My fans are attached to me and they are involved in the process of making my music to the point of suggesting what to release, what to wear… One time during my musings on social media, I thought of getting a tattoo and people said no.

I was like is this body mine or ours? (Laughs) I got comments like ‘your body is the temple of the Lord, you are innocent’, some even said they would stop following me.

Do such comments affect how you live your life?

They do influence my life but I try to be objective as much as possible. These are people who are consuming my music and I have to create a balance between who I want to be and who the audience wants me to be.

I have to be careful that I don’t get manipulated and I don’t become self-centred. It’s a difficult line to walk.

You’ve shared some intimate stuff about your life on social media, like a past abusive relationship and being broke early on in your career, what brought that on?

When I was starting out there were some things I suffered in silence about, then, my music wasn’t popular and people didn’t know who I was. Right now I’m at a point where I’m giving back more, I have a bigger audience and so many young girls who look up to me in terms of achieving their own goals, dreams and careers. So this is an opportunity for me to tell them ‘these are some of the things you guys don’t know’. Most rising stars will ask you the same questions; how do I start, where should I record and with whom? I want to tell them the things I have been through that are not nice or glamorous, the things I chose to move on from. That’s the least I can do.

Does your past abusive relationship affect your current relationship?

I think everything we do in life influences who we are, and it’s up to you to decide how much. I’m more cautious now, I ask more questions and I’m more alert. I know who I am, what I want and there are things about myself and my territory I need to protect.

When someone beats you they push you to your lowest point and if it is someone influential then it makes you think you are not worth anything, and that affects your self-esteem. It frees you when you talk about it.

When I shared these stories I got so much feedback from people in abusive relationships who can’t leave.

Was it hard getting back your self-esteem?

Not really, I’ve always been a strong character naturally. Yes it was a blow to my self-esteem but I kept thinking I’ve come a long way and this is not the end. I chose to focus on the good things and move forward.

You change the colour of your hair a lot, is it hard to maintain it?

No, I have a very good stylist called Eric One wash, we discuss my hair like it’s an essay on WhatsApp. I love experimenting with my hair, it’s my expression as an artiste.

Will you go back to long hair?

I don’t like long hair, it’s too much work

Boss from MOG has written a couple of songs for you

We used to record at Main Switch Studios together and so we met a lot.

He wanted to remake my song “Woman in Love” because he fell in love with it. We are each other’s fans and it has become easier to play around with melodies.

Sometimes I like it when someone writes me a song because I will only write from my perspective, but he will give me another. I’m still trying to see if I can get other people to write me songs. I’ve also had other people request to write for me.

Do you think you have evolved in your career as an artiste and a woman?

Yes on many aspects, of course my body structure has changed (laughs). Life is about growth and change, I’m not as naïve and green. I’m more objective, I know what to jump on and what not to and I analyse people’s intentions and advice.

You got engaged about seven months ago, have you started shopping or planning for your wedding?

Oh gosh, I wish people knew how bad I am at these things. I have a friend who is a wedding planner and she told me ‘Vivian, I just know you will call me the night before your wedding and tell me I don’t have this and that’.

I have a big sister which means I’m used to people doing things for me, but I like planning for things although I don’t take them too seriously especially a wedding, it’s just one day.

I’m not a bridezilla. As long as the music, sound and décor are okay I will dance and enjoy my wedding day.

On a scale of one to 10, how good do you feel your life is right now?

Maybe seven, I’m in charge and in control of my life.

What’s your schedule like on a normal day?

In a nut shell, a lot of thinking, reading, soul searching and spending a lot of time in the studio.

He is popularly known for the song “Presence is Heaven” and is a six time Grammy award winner scooping his first in 2012 for Best Pop/Contemporary gospel album. Other awards include Dove GMA Awards (11 awards) and two Stellar Awards.

He was in the country for a sold out Worship Concert on the 17th of November at CITAM Karen.

He spoke to Buzz about his music, family, and Kenyan artistes holding grudges against each other.

It’s your second visit to Kenya. What about this country makes you want to come back?

The people. I find Kenyans to be very kind and friendly and I believe that anybody will enjoy being in the same environment with such people. There is also something fascinating about the Kenyan culture. On the flip side, I haven’t learned any Swahili word.

Have you always been religious? How would you describe your spiritual journey?

I was brought up in a Christian home but nevertheless, there have been many moments of self-doubt along the way.

There were many times I questioned if I believed in God because of what I had grown up around and had been told.

I had to make a personal decision that I wanted to have a personal relationship with God. That realisation has been my foundation and helped answer any faith crisis I experienced before.

You have won many awards and accolades along the way as a worship singer. How does that make you feel?

To be honest, I don’t know. I, however feel indebted to the engineers, producers and anybody else who has contributed to the success of my music journey. Sometimes, the people that you don’t see on the frontline work as hard as artistes to ensure that the world gets the best.

You have released to the world more than 25 Christian gospel songs. Do you have a favourite?

I get asked that quite a lot. I don’t have a favourite. Each song that I have written or collaborated with other artistes speak for a particular season. “Your Presence is Heaven to Me” for example, speaks of finding contentment in Christ while “You are good” is about thanksgiving.

In your journey as a Christian music singer, what is one of your major discoveries?

That it is important to find balance. In my previous marriage, I was a workaholic and spent too much time travelling around the world. However, in my current marriage, I’m often at home and spend ample time with my wife, Adrienne Bailon. To fellow artistes, it is good that they find balance in whatever they do. Family comes first.

Are you at a good place right now? Not only spiritually, but also socially and professionally?

There has been a lot of transitioning in my life in the past few years; getting into a new marriage, leaving Lakewood Church and starting a programme for the homeless in Los Angeles. In spite of all these transitions, I’m at a happy place with myself, my family and God.

Occasionally we hear of Kenyan gospel artistes competing and holding grudges against each other…

Wait, gospel artistes holding grudges against each other? That’s an oxymoron and very ridiculous. The gospel industry takes such a small percentage in the music industry that I’m lost as to why we should be in competition with each other. To be honest I have never heard of that before. And you can quote me that where there are such fights, God is not there.

What are you preparing for your fans?

I am working on a television and film project to be released soon. It is an exciting project but sorry, I can’t share more about it now.

Revered media personality Eve D’Souza over the weekend had to revisit painful memories of her father’s death after visiting his grave site.

Eve D’Souza, who doubles up as producer and actress on popular comedy show ‘Auntie Boss’, lost her dad three years ago. And while she doesn’t like to talk about, she took to Instagram on Saturday to open up about her struggle with accepting her dad’s loss.

According to Eve D’Souza, she had not visited her dad’s grave since his burial three years ago. Over the weekend, her family had to redo the grave and Eve had to be there despite dreading it.

She wrote: “It was 3 years yesterday since my dad passed. I don’t talk about his death much. I hadn’t visited his grave since we buried him. It was time this week to redo the grave. I dreaded it, because seeing where he lay would make it real.

“Everyone copes with death differently, but the emotions are similar I think. It often begins with shock and feeling numb, especially if the death was sudden. Everything seems unreal. With time the pain sets in. Sadness, loneliness, helplessness, and guilt may come over you in waves. Eventually comes a slowly growing acceptance of what has happened, but it’s not necessarily a happy acceptance.

“I often wonder why does it hurt so much? Death is inevitable but every time I hear of someone passing it shocks me to my core.
I guess we hurt so much because we love so greatly. My heart goes out to you if you’re struggling with a difficult loss too. It’s important for our healing to remember
the love we were blessed to experience was a rare and wonderful thing. While i mourn, i stay grateful for what i had ❤ Rest in peace Dad, always loved. Dedicated to all the beautiful souls we’ve lost”

Kenyans on social media have no chills. No sooner had Anerlisa Muigai recovered from pancreatitis than she started getting backlash for allegedly being a husband snatcher.

The Keroche heiress has particularly been a favorite topic for the popular Kilimani Mums Facebook page where the allegations sprouted from.

On Instagram, a user identified as Joy Njokie, sarcastically alluded that Anerlisa’s new boyfriend had abandoned his wife and child.

“Say hi to don. His wife is still crying a river to God to have his husband back to her and their baby,” Joy Njokie commented on Anerlisa’s photo.

The photo shows Anerlisa with her mysterious boyfriend chilling by a swimming pool. For the umpteenth time, his face was carefully concealed even after it recently became apparent that Anerlisa had since broken up with former fiance, Stephen K.

Anerlisa, who is the founder of Nero Company, has been referring to her new man with the initials D.K. Responding to Njokie’s comments, she jumped to Don’s defence saying “no man is stolen.”

She wrote: “Joy_njokie Please remove this cheap crap from my page… you all been attacking me on chitchat and kilimani even when I was in my hospital bed. As I said if Don is married can she post their marriage certificate. (still waiting for it). And just to make it clear no man is stolen, he chooses to walk away and even if you have 1,2,3…10…50 kids before marriage doesn’t guarantee you of marriage #LetAGirlBreathe”

Joy was forced to eat humble pie and apologized saying she admires the popular Rich Kid of Kenyan Instagram.

Weeks after radio presenter Tina Kaggia revealed that her marriage to JB Masanduku had ended, the comedian appears to have moved on with his life.

In the last couple of weeks since the revelation, Tina Kaggia has appeared on TV interviews to narrate how she almost lost herself in depression, alcohol addiction, and even contemplated suicide.

According to Tina Kaggia, JB Masanduku was rarely involved in their children’s life as he was not ready to give up partying.

“He was out drinking the whole time and only saw his son after two days,” she recalled.

“He was never there, he would miss important dates and his vanishing acts – where he would disappear for days – became commonplace,” she revealed, adding that he would switch off his phone only for her to see pictures of his whereabouts doing rounds on social media.

It was not until the beginning of this year that she started trying to get her life together.

“I had to go through physical de-cluttering since almost everything I had brought back memories of our time together; I gave out most of my clothes and had to pick out new ones from my sister,” she said.

“I was not going to have them(kids) put in this kind of instability. I am neither going to raise my girls thinking it is OK to be treated that way nor let my son think women ought to be treated that way,” she stated.

Masanduku on the other hand appears to be enjoying the warmth and love of a new catch, Njenga Leisly. He took to his Instagram page to show off the new lady in his life, captioning two of their pictures with hashtags #Justmeandher and #favouritehuman.
