kambuaGospel singer Kambua has released another amazing jam and she keeps getting better and better.

Having teamed up with Willy Paul, Size 8 and Gloria Muliro in ‘Sijafika’ recently, the talented songbird has now teamed up with Bonfils. The new jam is titled ‘Tegemeo’, an inspirational jam that reminds everyone that the good Lord will always be there in times of need.

The video has been directed by Pastor Eric Omba while the audio has been produced by Sam Lokua.

The much people know about him is mostly from his music and he has maintained his brand as King of Genge music. As Genge king, Jua Cali has been blessed with a genge queen and contrary to his genge reputation, the rapper sure does treat his lady like the queen she is.

Early this week, his wife Lilly Asigo turned a year older and Jua Cali was on hand to make sure she felt special. He treated her to a fine dinner at the Safari Park Hotel in Nairobi and took to social media to show the world his rare romantic side.

He wrote; Happy Birthday my Rib may you live to blow a thousand candles.

jeff5Just when you think you have seen all there is to see from talented pencil artist, Collins Okello better known by the moniker Jaduong’, he pulls off a surprise and leaves you utterly astounded.

The talented lad from Kisumu rose to immediate fame and popularity after an impressive drawing of President Uhuru Kenyatta. The drawing was so good he was accorded a presidential invite to State House.

His star continued to shine in successive months, with his most recent high profile accolade being portraits of POTUS and the First Family that left Obama impressed.

Fast forward to now and the pencil virtuoso has finished another phenomenal portrait of popular talk show host Jeff Koinange.

The last Jeff Koinange portrait landed him on ‘Jeff Koinange Live’ and we are left to wonder where this one will land him.

mut1Ladies, let me welcome you to heartbreak city. TV hunk Nick Mutuma might be back together with Bridgette Shighadi.

Early last year, Mashariki TV host Nick Mutuma had a bitter falling out with the gorgeous model. The break up turned outright ugly after a distraught Bridgette reportedly claimed that she used the Shuga actor for his fame to propel, Yedu an urban clothing line to greater heights.

A couple of months later, Nick Mutuma seemingly appeared to have moved on after posting a photo cuddling up with his ‘new catch.’

This year, nothing on the romantic department has been forthcoming from the actor until recently. The couple have been nominated for Abryanz Style and Fashion Awards as East Africa’s most stylish couple alongside Zari and Diamond, Ali Kiba and Jokate, Vanessa Mdee and Juma among others.

They both took to social media to accept the nomination.

Nick wrote;  ‘humbled to be nominated! Kenya stand up‘ while Bridgette had this to say; ‘Hey FASHION KILLA NickMutuma ‘.

You Will Not Believe Which Kenyan Comedy Show is Lupita’s Guilty Pleasure. Local Actors Go into a Frenzy

lupiDespite her hugely impressive thespic triumphs in Hollywood, Oscar winning Kenyan actress Lupita Nyong’o is still deeply rooted in Kenya, not only by birth and family ties but by the shows the country has to offer.

Now based in Brooklyn, New York and having quite the demanding schedule, Lupita surprisingly still finds time to check out the one Kenyan TV show no one would expect..’The Real Househelps of Kawangware.’

She sent social media into a frenzy when she revealed that the hilarious KTN show is her guilty pleasure. In her caption, Lupita singled out the ever hilarious Timothy Kimani better known as Njugush, proving that real recognizes real. The actor is one of the most talented thespians in the country.

Lupita wrote;

“Day off fro #EclipsedPlay. Catching up on my guilty pleasure, The Real Househelps of Kawangware. #cantgetenough #swahilihilarity #sheng #ifonlyicouldtranslate #GodblessNjuguna#TRHK”

With close to 2 million followers on Instagram, Lupita was not telling Kenyans about the show but the whole world.  The post caught the attention of the show’s cast who took to social media to appreciate the big up. The show’s director Phil Karanja and his significant other, Catherine Kamau were particularly upbeat.

The show airs every Wednesday on KTN at 1925 hrs.

Gospel Songbird Lady Bee Lands MCSK Job as New Generation Representative

lady bee1Secular turned gospel singer Lady Bee has been appointed as a new generation representative of the Music Copyright Society of Kenya.

The singer currently riding high on the single ‘Kila Goti’, got her appointment letter during the MCSK meeting held at the Machakos People’s Park on Tuesday.

Taking to social media, an elated Lady Bee shared the news with her followers and expressed gratitude for the appointment.

She posted; “Today am humbled to be Appointed TO The MCSK ADVISORY COMMITTEE New Generation Representative..Thank you Jesus for your grace..God bless kenya musicians”

The appointment comes as a welcome relief for Lady Bee who together with Frasha vied for the Nairobi Director’s seat last year but lost.

After his participation at TPF3, Bernard Nganga aka Nga’nga’lito went on to release his debut album dubbed ‘Zawadi.‘ Last year, he was working on his second album.

Besides his relatively unknown music that never took off, Ng’ang’alito is a production assistant at Citizen TV and a renown businessman with several business ventures.

The lad has a new jam out and has teamed up with Daville. The song is titled ‘Usiseme Jana’ and the lyric video is live on the internet.

Ringtone’s Troubles Double After Accusations of Plotting to Destabilise the Music Industry

ringtone1No sooner had the dust settled on recent allegations that Ringtone forced a former lover to abort their love child, than another scandal accusing him of hatching a plot to destabilise the music industry surfaced.

This time, the accusations levelled against the controversial gospel singer come from Kenya National Union of Musicians(KENUM). According to the artist’s union, Ringtone is misleading musicians by being two-faced when it comes to fighting for their rights.

According to KENUM’s assistant chairperson Qty, the union has acquired recordings proving Ringtone’s plot to destabilise the music industry.

“We have obtained exclusive recordings of a scheme hatched to destabilise the music industry. The scheme involves character assassination, false allegations and incitement with an aim to discredit the Music Copyright Society of Kenya and its officials,” Qty told Word Is.

In the recordings, Ringtone is reportedly heard trying to tarnish the name of MCSK.

KENUM added that “more recordings will be released where demands for money is made and other damaging information.”

Ringtone has responded to the allegations denying being used by Premium Rate Service Providers (PRSPs) — the ringtone download sellers — to derail a new deal where artistes will earn 15 per cent of the money generated from downloads, up from 7.5 per cent.

“I personally took the CMOs (Collective Management Organisations -MCSK, Kamp and Prisk) to meet the Deputy President so that he can help push the Skiza deal, so I don’t understand why they are saying I’m out to destroy the deal and yet I helped build it up!” Ringtone said.

“Those recordings are a segment of a two-hour meeting, I’m daring them to release the entire recording because I have my own dossier that I will release.” He added.

Well, yesterday I came across a Kenyan guy who convincingly looks a lot like ‘Mwaka Huu’ hitmaker Jaguar.

Featuring Kaka Empire signed artist Rich Mavoko, the duo have teamed up once again in a mushy single. ‘Lini’ is the duo’s second collaboration this year after they dropped ‘Njoo’ earlier in the year.

Just like ‘Njoo’, this new jam sees them combine well. Rich Mavoko’s hook is particularly catchy while King Kaka’s rhymes are mostly disappointing.

Diamond Platnumz Scoops The MTV EMA Gong for Best African Act

diamondBongo superstar Diamond Platnumz  is the winner of the 2015 MTV EMAs Best African Act.

The hitmaker was announced as the winner by MTV on Thursday after edging out stiff competition from AKA, Yemi Alade, Davido, and DJ Arafat.

MTV wrote; “For weeks, music fans around the world have been voting like mad for their local favourite artists. And now a winner has been chosen! The winner of the 2015 Best Africa Act is DIAMOND!”

The win comes days after the music sensation walked away with three awards at the recently concluded Afrimma Awards in Dallas, Texas.

Diamond will now have to battle it out with Best Indian Act, Priyanka Chopra for the Best Worldwide Act: Africa/India.

MTV announced the new twist saying; “This year, we’ve put a new twist on the international award race—your local winner goes STRAIGHT into the running for the Worldwide Act EMA! When EMA winners are announced on 25 October during our Milan event, 6 Worldwide Act winners will emerge, each representing a different portion of the planet: Africa/India, Asia, Australia/New Zealand, Europe, Latin America, and North America.”

brenda-wairimuPopular Kenyan actress Brenda Wairimu could very well have been on her way to Hollywood superstardom. The Mali actress landed herself a spot on the next round of  ‘Top Actor Africa’ auditions but she sadly had to forfeit her spot.

The BET hit series conducted interviews last weekend at the Kenya National Theatre in search of the next hottest acting talent out of the continent for season 2 of the reality show.

The Kenyan on screen sweetheart took to social media to share the great news with her fans on Thursday before delivering the sad news some hours later. The next stage of the gruelling reality show involved travelling to Johannesburg today, which Brenda could not make on one day notice.

Here’s the call back message she received;

She later took to twitter to deliver the sad news. The auditions for the 2nd round had to be done physically.

 

 

Brenda stood a chance of winning the title of Top Actor Africa, a cash prize of $10,000, international representation and access to Hollywood auditions.

eclipsed1Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o delivered another applaudable performance in an off-Broadway play dubbed ‘Eclipsed.’

‘Eclipsed’ is an African War drama written by playwright Danai Gurira, famed for her role as the zombie-mauling Michonne on ‘The Walking Dead.’ The searing drama follows women in the crossfire of the second Liberian civil war — during which warlords conscripted child soldiers, ate each other’s hearts and performed human sacrifices.

According to international media outlets, Lupita Nyong’o delivered a brilliant performance at The Public Theater in Manhattan, New York.

In show of support, her family(brother, father and mother) were in attendance to watch Lupita deliver a sterling performance. They got to hang out with the play’s director, Liesl Tommy, writer Danai Gurira and the legendary Stevie Wonder.

“We Are Tired of Old Celebs. The Industry Needs Fresh Talent”– Grandpa CEO Refigah

ref21According to Grandpa Records CEO Refigah, the Kenyan music industry needs fresh talent for any significant change to be realised.

“We are tired of having the same old guys ruling the charts and as Grandpa, we have invested in new talent to ensure this change is realised,” Refigah said.

Speaking to Pulse, Refigah real name Youssouf Noah, said his Grandpa stable is more focused on training new talent.

“As much as we have been trying to help the old-guard remain relevant, our focus is on fresh stars and now we have a list of over 2,000, whom we have started training,” he added.

He concluded by thumping his chest that Grandpa Records is the leading stable in the country.

“Everyone one knows that Grandpa has taken over as the leading stable and our next agenda is to change the face of the industry once and for all,” he concluded.
