sheila2 (1)Popular TV personality, Sheila Mwanyigha has been keeping busy with a noble mission since facing the sack at Nation Media Group.

The sultry personality was one of the many NMG employees who faced the cut in a bid by the media outlet to cut expenses. They included Sanaipei Tande, Anto Neosoul, and Ciru Muriuki.

Sheila Mwanyigha had worked at Nation Media Group for a staggering 11 years.

She has since moved on and is playing an important role in the society. She recently visited the Machakos School for the Deaf to fit school children with hearing aids.

She wrote on social media;

“I travelled to Machakos with the team from Starkey Hearing Foundation. We went to the Machakos School for the Deaf to fit both primary and secondary school children with hearing aids.

Just seeing the children’s reaction to sound, is something I shall never forget. The wonder, the joy, their smiles, their voices! One little boy moved me. Ever since he had joined the school he had never spoken a word. One teacher also said that he was not only deaf, but coping with other challenges too. Still Owen, the team leader, reminded us all that God works miracles and the little boy was not going to miss out on hearing aids.” Read part of her post.

“We Will Soon Have our Home in Kenya”– Morgan Heritage to Apply for Kenyan Citizenship

morganIf you had doubts about how awesome a country Kenya is then Morgan Heritage have a reason for you. The iconic reggae family have been in the country for weeks now and are already convinced Kenya is the perfect place to live in.

According to reports, the members of the group will apply for Kenyan citizenship. The group famously known as ‘Royal Family of Reggae’, will also set up a mega state-of-the-art music recording company in Nairobi, where all of its African operations will be based. The group is currently based in the US.

“We are going to look for President Kenyatta because we want to get Kenyan passports. By the grace of God, we will soon have our home in Kenya. We have been to many parts of the world, including South Africa, Nigerian and Senegal, but there’s nowhere else we feel at home than in Kenya. We’ve got just a few more years left to live in the West. We are officially coming to make Kenya our home,” said Gramps Morgan.

Gramps was speaking during the ’10 Minutes of Your Time’ forum with the Youth Enterprise Development Fund at the University of Nairobi last Friday.

“It was not easy being born and growing up as a black person in America. It’s not easy still. There is great injustice for black people, not just in America but everywhere else where there is a white man!” Peter Morgan added.

“Teachers Mistook My Swag for Devil Worship”– Bad Boy Shaffie Weru

shaffieThe ‘raverend’ of the Kenyan showbiz, Shaffie Weru apparently had too much ‘swag’, his teachers thought he was an agent of the devil.

The Chuka High School alumnus, in a sensational revelation claims that teachers got uneasy with his peculiar urban mannerisms.

“I was the only boy in that school with pierced ears. So teachers used say that I was a devil worshipper. Back then, stories about devil worship were very rampant. The teachers used to look at me and all they could see was an agent of the devil,” he says.

Shaffie, who has maintained his ‘swag’ mannerisms opened up about his teenage life, saying he was eventually expelled from school.

“Students at my school were very notorious for striking. There used to be a strike every year. Amazingly, there was no strike from the day I joined until the second term of my fourth year. I remember when the students started rioting, I was sitting at some corner at the basketball court meditating. I didn’t even have prior information that there was going to be a strike. But I was among the students who were expelled. I didn’t even sit my mock exams. My famous status was not an easy thing. It came with its costs,” He added.

Another One!! Female Rapper Baby T Remakes Kristoff’s ‘Dandia’ to ‘Dandiwa’ (VIDEO)

Baby TWhen rappers Kristoff, Frasha and King Kaka teamed up to drop ‘Dandia’, they probably did not expect it to have a couple of remakes, especially from female rappers.

Well, another remake has been dropped by an upcoming female rapper going by the stage name Baby T. Unlike Kush Tracey, who dropped ‘Huwezi Ni Dandia’, Baby T prefers to be ‘Dandiwa’d.’

Dubbed ‘Dandiwa’, the audio is once again a Cedo of Pacho production, while the video has been directed by Richie-G of ATL Entertainment.

kingRapper Kristoff’s moniker, ‘Mluhya wa Busia’ is under serious contention from fast rising artiste King Kambongosi.

King Kambongosi, the self proclaimed ‘King of Luhya music’ has a bone to pick with the rapper for calling himself Mluhya Wa Busia. According to the King,’ Kristoff should stop rapping in English.

“If Kristoff thinks he represents Luhyas, he should stop rapping in English. Let him do pure Luhya songs just like me.” He told Word Is.

King further dared Kristoof to a head to head contest.

“If he thinks he is the musical king of Luhya, I dare him to go head-to-head in this contest with me. I have the authentic African beats and lyrics, which truly represents the true sound of the Luhya. My plan is to maintain it all the way.”

When reached for comment, Kristoff reportedly brushed off the issue saying, ‘No Comment.’

Kambongosi is currently riding high on the jam dubbed ‘Yapapala’.

willy1Another one! Yes, another lie and another publicity stunt by Willy Paul has sent social media into a frenzy.

The gospel hitmaker is apparently gearing to walk the aisle if his recent social media post is anything to go by.

The singer shared on Instagram a photo of an engagement ring with the caption; “It’s finally here, the date is set, the bride is set, the cake is set and I am ready….. Willy Paul getting married… stay on for more updates on the wedding plan…. it’s one very hard move but blessings follow”

First things first, the photo has been lifted off the internet and if you google ‘engagement rings’ you will probably find it among the images. Secondly, it has become a routine/strategy by Willy Paul to promote an upcoming song by starting an attention-seeking story.

Whether it is his recurring ‘beef’ with Bahati, the letters on social media; most of these controversies have come days before he dropped a new song.

Therefore, don’t hold your breath on Willy Paul making an honest woman out of any girl anytime soon. He is just too immature for such a serious commitment.

For many, Mashujaa Day was not only a public holiday to celebrate Kenyan heroes from all walks of life, but to take a break from the norm and get some much needed rest. For popular singer Jaguar, the day was another chance to engage in philanthropic activities.

The NACADA director took time off to go back to his roots in Dandora where he spread cheer and made some donations to residents of the area.

Popular gospel rapper David Muthengi known by the stage name Holy Dave has taken the first step to ensuring he stays as young as possible. The rapper will be going back to school to pursue a Doctorate of Philosophy(PhD).

Through social media, he revealed that he had submitted his application at the University of Nairobi.

” PhD application submitted. Hapa ndio faith imenifikisha. It’s not about the money. It’s all about #Imani” He wrote.

‘Unajua’ Singer GILAD Back With a Brand New One ‘Sema Milele’ (VIDEO)

GILADFollowing up on the impressive, chart topping hit single ‘Unajua,’ fast rising pop star Gilad Millo has dropped a new jam dubbed ‘Sema Milele.’

Millo, 44, is a former deputy head of mission at the Israeli Embassy in Kenya. He made his music debut with the hit “Unajua” (Do You Know) featuring Kenyan songstress Wendy Kimani back in April.

His love for music started from a young age. In his 20s he was a member of a Jerusalem rock band, ‘White Donkey.’

He became a diplomat in 2003. He served in Nairobi and Los Angeles before leaving Israel’s Foreign Ministry in 2008 and settling in Nairobi permanently.

Just like ‘Unajua’, ‘Sema Milele (Say Forever)’ is a mellow tune about the lingering attachment of two lovers. It is the perfect wedding song.

The song’s production has been done by MG Studios while the video has been directed by Mushking.

Coming off a splendid performance of the play ‘Eclipsed’ recently, the actress has had a day dedicated to her. This is after the Harlem Community declared October 20th Lupita Nyong’o Day in Harlem, New York.

Coincidentally, it is the same date Kenyans celebrate ‘Mashujaa Day’, a public holiday set aside to honor Kenyan heroes.

A jubilant Lupita took to her Facebook page to thank the Harlem community by saying; “October 20th declared Lupita Nyong’o Day in Harlem?! fahamGospel wonder kid Bahati has launched a game changing move that will certainly cement his place as a force to reckon with in the Kenyan gospel music industry.

The award winning star recently opened his own recording studio, EMB Records, based in Eastlands Nairobi. According to Bahati, it is a dream come true and his vision is to support upcoming artists mostly from the Ghetto.

“It was just a Dream when I Opened EASTLANDS MOST BELOVED RECORDS @EMBRECORDS Weeks ago. With a Vision of Supporting other Artists from Eastlands, Ghettos na Pia Mashinanii. My Biggest dream is Changing the stories of Many in my Society…” He said.

He also revealed that the studio had already recorded well over 20 artists despite only being a few weeks old.

Last week he unveiled the first EMB Records signee by the name Weezdom. Weezdom is a singer and rap artist who grew up in Huruma.

“WEEZDOM is a Singer & Rap Artist grew up at HURUMA near MATHARE SLUMS. Young but ameona Maisha… From Being a Drug addict to a Drug Peddler… that’s a Story for another day.” Bahati wrote on his Facebook page.

Weezdom’s first single is dubbed ‘Faham.’

“I Was Using Ecstasy and Cocaine for About 6 Months”– Vanessa Chettle Confesses

vanessaPopular socialite turned singer Vanessa Chettle has for the first time opened up about her struggles with drug abuse. The confessions comes weeks after the petite popular girl-about-town turned over a new leaf and launched her debut single ‘I Hate.’

Speaking to Pulse, Vanessa revealed that she was abusing drugs for about 6 months.

For how long did you abuse drugs?

“For about six months. It was becoming such an addiction. Sometimes when I was called for an event out of Nairobi, I would opt for a road trip as opposed to going through the airport where I definitely would be caught by security officials with the drugs. Very few friends knew this.”

That is serious. Which drugs were you using?

“Ecstasy and cocaine.”

How were you able to get the drugs, I mean, these are illegal drugs?

“You would be surprised that these drugs are actually easily accessible to those who use them. I won’t give more leads into this as that is now in my past. The downside is that my health deteriorated and I stopped thinking and acting normal. I lost a lot of money because the drugs were really expensive. I was basically losing myself in every aspect.”

She also revealed how she got into drugs citing peer pressure and that alcohol was not doing it for her.

“I love going out, socialising and partying. I’ve been partying since I was 16. When you are out there, you always hear about drugs being cool and see people using them. Partying became my job as I am in showbiz and at some point, I felt that alcohol was not enough to keep me going. That is when peer pressure overcame me. Slowly, I got into drugs.”

We are assuming that you are no longer using the drugs now, right?

“I stopped. I went into rehab for about 21 days. I’ve been cleaned up. I had to go off social media and everything through which I could get hooked up again. The truth is, my sister knew I was hooked on drugs and that is when she got to tell my Dad who, together with my other family members, intervened. Let’s just say my family members saved me.”

In the interview, Vanessa also opened up about her marriage to an old white man.

You were also rumoured to be in a relationship with an old, white man. Was that true?

“I had a good upbringing but in my teenage years I was dealing with a step mother and a hostile environment. I ran away at 17 and ended up in Nairobi where I met Robert, the old, white man, and we were married for two years. I got married when I was 18.”
