Kaka Empire’s songbird Judith Nyambura aka Avril has expressed her surprise at the reception from her social media followers after she shared her HIV status recently.

According to Avril, she thought the idea to share her results was cool but to her surprise, a lot of Kenyan youth did not understand its value.

She disclosed that decision to take a HIV test was catalysed by a friend.

“I was with my friends one evening and we decided to just get tested… It’s cool to know your HIV status,” said the musician.

“I took the strips and they were all negative and I posted them on social media. It caused an uproar with people asking me: Who do you think you are? Why are you showing us your HIV status? Kwani unajishuku?…People talked and said really bad things.”

She intimated that her detractors and critics might have been afraid to get tested, hence the rant.

Musician Charles Kanyi Njagua alias Jaguar has appeared in court over the grisly road accident that claimed the lives of two men.

The singer and NACADA director was on Monday charged with careless driving leading to deaths of 2 people.

Appearing before Senior Principal Magistrate Evans Kiago, the ‘Kigeugeu’ hitmaker denied the charges and urged the court to release him on bond.

Jaguar who was unrepresented during the proceedings argued that the charges he faced were bailable and that he should be freed on bond, promising he would be attending court regularly.

The Principal Magistrate ordered the artiste to be released on Sh50,000 cash bail until June 26 when his case will be heard.

The court heard that Jaguar was heading towards Nairobi from Nyeri when he lost control of his car and knocked down a boda-boda rider, Peter Mugo, 27, and his passenger, Sinfolian Maingi, 25, a bar attendant.

It has been a tough few weeks for Radio Maisha listeners and fans of comedian Phelix Odiwuor aka Jalang’o following his exit from the Standard Media Group owned radio station.

Jalang’o’s loyal fans, however, are probably not as affected by his exit than his former Co-host Alex Mwakideu who has been having a hard time accepting that his brother from another mother won’t be on the show any longer.

According to Mwakideu, it has taken him over a week to come to terms with the end of his ‘bromantic’ radio relationship with Jalas.

Taking to social media, Mwakideu posted a heartfelt message saying farewell to Jalas after four years together.

“Imenichukua wiki nzima kukubali hali halisi kwamba kakangu hakika hayuko nami tena kikazi. Miaka minne Pamoja sio mchezo!
Kwakheri ndugu yangu. Kutoka moyoni mwangu, nakutakia kila la heri . Mwenyezi Mungu akuongoze katika njia zako zote daima dawama,” wrote Mwakideu.

Which loosley translates to:”It has taken me a full week to accept that my brother will no longer be with me at the workplace. Four years is no joke! Goodbye, my brother. From the bottom of my heart, I wish you all the best. May God guide you in all your endeavors.”

Gospel star Willy Paul has set the tongues wagging across East Africa after confessing that he is a virgin live on television.

During his recent media tour in Tanzania, the hitmaker appeared on Clouds TV where he made the mind-boggling revelation.

A conversation about his virginity ensued when he was asked to explain the meaning behind the song ‘Take It Slow’ featuring Sauti Sol.

He said that he was advising the youth to avoid sex before marriage, which prompted the hosts to ask whether he was just preaching water and drinking wine or he himself was celibate.

“Ofcourse (nimechill)..ofcourse…mimi ata..SIJAWAI. Nangoja tu. Sijaoa na sijawai na nangoja nioe. Nkioa ndio labda,” Willy said.

Asked how he beats the temptations, Willy Paul replied with a verse from the song ‘Take it Slow.’

The revelation comes as a shocker to many who believe he was lying owing to his bad-boy reputation with the ladies. Perhaps they are indeed just prayer partners.

Judge Jo-1 Finally Speaks After the Outfit She Wore to Blankets and Wine Caused a Major Fuss Online

To you fashion is just rocking a T-shirt and some Air Max sneakers but to judge Jo-1 formerly of Sakata, fashion is bold, it’s a statement and means of expression which shouldn’t be taken lightly.
In line with that, she always works hard to make sure her fashion sense goes hand in hand with her lifestyle which is heavily immersed in the Arts. Sometimes I also suspect it depends with her mood and feelings at the time when she’s leaving the house.

Sometimes she’s feeling elated and thus bold colours become her cup of tea while at times…she prefers to go random mixing up all types of clothing and accessories to bring out her own distinctive style which trust me you’ll never get to see anywhere else.
Like did you see the outfit she rocked on the just recently concluded blankets and wine?

Totally mind blowing yes? Or is it different? Fashion cops had a field day with her analyzing every intricate detail of the outfit and so did her fans too. Most were simply fascinated by just how she managed to pull off such an outfit despite being a mother of 3 with the youngest only being slightly above one year old.

This is however not the first time her outfit is causing a fuss, she has had a run in with fashion watch on Citizen TV which trashed her outfit. We decided to call her up just to find out what’s the deal with these audacious outfits and this is what she had to say:

“Back when I had had the baby and was 6 weeks postpartum Fashion Watch basically trashed my outfit which is strange since I was finished wearing maternity wear and had just about recovered from the C-section stitches.
I was at the safaricom jazz fest with my 3 kids. I’d like to see the judges on fashion watch attempt that without some serious tailoring done to their clothes and professional makeup. At that time I didn’t respond but it was sad especially for two women to respond to my style choice like that. Especially since Nairobi isn’t considered to be the fashion hub of anywhere in the world.

I never did dress according to anyone’s standards or so- called trends. I love colours and bold statements. I’ve been through too much in my life and I will not apologize for my choice of clothing-which is something so futile and passing anyway.”

And there you have it, straight from the horse’s mouth…walk along now!

Rachael Shebesh, or Mama Nai, as she’s fondly referred to by her supporters, this past Sunday appeared on the Churchill Show alongside three other Nairobi Women Representative aspirants and totally obliterated them in a heated debate that saw one of the aspirants twerk to the audience and the others fumble around unable to put up a decent, bankable argument.

As the incumbent, Ms Shebesh delved into topics ranging from her family to the work that she’s spiritedly done for the last three years and also her intention to defend her seat and expressed confidence in winning the seat for another five years.

As one of the most vocal and industrious politicians, whose style, pomp and candor has won many and endeared her to the masses, Ms Shebesh was resplendent in sports attire that paid full homage to the National Flag – she wore a track suit with the National Flag stripes that ran from her neck to her feet.

Mama Nai also took the chance to shine a light on her achievements as the current Nairobi Women’s Rep – she reiterated her passion in defending and improving the lives of women and the disabled and also said that it wouldn’t matter whether she won the seat again or not, her resolve would remain the same.

Also on the show was aspirants Karen Nyamu, Millicent Omanga and Esther Passaris who recently stepped down from the arduous race to capture the Nairobi Gubernatorial seat.

Millicent was hugely booed and shouted down when she suggested that the Women’s Rep seat should be a one-term only affair attracting huge backlash from the audience.

Singer Sarah Nanaa better known as Lady Nanaa is grabbing headlines once again, this time for proposing to her boyfriend.

According to the singer, gone are the days when women would wait to be proposed to.

“Yeah I popped the question and he said, ‘Yes, yes, yes!’ It is a high time we start being ourselves instead of complaining, take the initiative as a lady,” Nanaa told Word Is.

Nanaa, who allegedly called off her 2015 wedding at the last minute after reportedly coming across a video of her then to be husband cheating on her with one of her friends, popped the big question on Good Friday.

She defended the bold decision saying, “I didn’t see the big deal in waiting for him to do so and I know we both genuinely love each other.”

“Of course he was dumbfounded at first, he took like 30 seconds to take in my question,” she said, adding, “He said he had for so long waited for that very moment I would say that and I have made him the happiest man.”

Though she did not want to release the proposal photos because her fiance prefers a life away from the limelight, Nanaa revealed that the two have known each other for 16 years.

“He is someone I have known for a very long time. He knows me very well and understands me and most importantly cares and is always happy for me at all times. I have for some time had this strong feeling that my soul mate is nearby but was wondering where. After lots of prayers, God indeed kept sending him nearer and nearer.”
