They took Africa by storm in last year’s season of Coke Studio Africa and they are set to do it once more!

Award-winning Nigerian songbird Yemi Alade and Kenya’s rap sensation Nyashinki are set to drop another hit collabo.

News reaching our entertainment news desk have it that Yemi is coming to Kenya this month to shoot the music video for the new song.

The title of the song remains undisclosed for now but more details will be unveiled soon.

The ‘Na Gode’ singer will also be in town to film Coke Studio Africa season 5 where she will be returning for the fourth time.

Nyashinski and Yemi first met during the filming of last year’s season Coke Studio Africa where they showcased undeniable chemistry. They also gave stellar renditions of each other’s tracks – Yemi’s ‘Marry Me’ and Shinski’s ‘Mungu Pekee.’

The new project is not the first time Yemi will be releasing a Swahili jam. In 2016, she dropped a Swahili version of her hit song “Na Gode” which has since been viewed over 4 million times on Youtube.

On the other hand, Nyashinski has been relatively quiet having become the first artiste to clock 2 million views on YouTube with only a lyric video for his smash hit “Mungu Pekee”.

A collaboration between these two artistes holds much promise and it is one we are definitely looking out for.

Two of Kenya’s biggest drama kings – rappers Prezzo and Colonel Mustafa – are at it once again this time over Prezzo’s ex-girlfriend Michelle Yola.

Mustafa, who rejoined the cast of Nairobi Diaries, recently whetted fans’ appetites after hinting at a liaison with Yola.

“We have a scene together and it will be very interesting,” said Mustafa.

The ‘Loboko’ hitmaker has, however, denied beefing with Prezzo but has issued a warning to the rapper to take care of Yola.

“I don’t have any beef with Prezzo, but if he has bile against me then that’s his problem. Kama hawezi chunga bibi then tutamchungia,” he told Showbuzz.

He added: “Prezzo joined the show when his career was flat-lining; I’m here and at the top of my game.”

On why he joined the reality show, Mustafa said: “I’m a regular dude and I want people to know the real me and let them judge for themselves. If you like me fine, if you don’t, that’s fine with me too.”

This is not the first time the two rappers are clashing over a girl. Over a year ago they were at loggerheads over Huddah Monroe.

According to Anyiko, it took the efforts of friends, including Sauti Sol’s Bien, to bring them together.

“We don’t really know the exact (anniversary) date because we just kind of hit it off from Day 1. But that was actually after 100 days of friends cajoling us to be together. Bien said, “You’ve got no idea how brilliant he is and how deep he can be.” True I didn’t,” narrated Anyiko.

Talk to me About your Self-Esteem Issues, Octopizzo’s SAVAGE Reaction to Khaligraph Bleaching

$

Khaligraph Jones’ decision to lighten up his facial skin complexion is proving incomprehensible by many.

The rapper who has been entrusted with the title – ‘Face of Kenyan hip-hop’ – has literally taken that deserving and coveted title and trashed it without a care in the world.

If you ask me, it is a mind-boggling b*tcha$$ move, especially for a major player in the African rap industry. Real OG’s who command respect could care less about looking lighter. But that’s just my opinion and to each his own.

He may have denied bleaching his skin but Kenyans have refused to be fooled.

Moving on from my personal disappointments with Khali, rapper Octopizzo has predictably joined in the furor by sharing his reaction on social media.

In the Instagram post addressed to his hip-hop brother, the ‘Tergat Gang’ rapper expresses his shock and offers a helping hand to Khaligraph Jones.

This is what he wrote:

“Ndugu Omollo, nilikua nataka nikutoe Rangi lakini sasa siwezi ju umejitoa mwenyewe 😂😂😂😂Ok this is not even funny am in shock!!,kama ni ukweli hizi risto naskia ati unajipaka aloevera then congratulations coz you just played yourself; Na Kama umecatch feelings katoe diss track coz matime we ukua na kiherehere sana.
But as my brother in hiphop kama ni self esteem issues please am open to talk to you as a peer coz sometimes the society can be harsh & am saying this coz #iCare and you are a friend.
So look for me when am back in the country. #Blacklivesmatter #beProud #beBlack#dontquit #8 🤴🏾But Kama umejitoa rangi ju ya hype then wee ni bure kabisa #PullUp #GangGang.”

Khaligraph Jones Rides the Bleaching Wave with New Hit Track ‘Toa Tint’

A lot has been said about Khaligraph Jones’ b*tcha$$ move to bleach his skin and a lot more will be said. But the rapper is unapologetic and has produced a masterclass move to diffuse his dumba$$ move by releasing a quick fire track to address the bleaching hullabaloo.

The rapper’s clap back at his detractors is aptly titled ‘Toa Tint'(Mask Off), a sarcastic trap anthem in which Khali rides the wave of his new-found publicity and reminds his fans of his incredible rapping talent.

While a clever move to ride the wave, ‘Toa Tint'(Mask Off) is hardly original and is sampled off of American rapper Future’s mega banger ‘Mask Off.’ It remains to be seen if Khali will gain any commercial success with the track.

Either way, Khaligraph’s talent remains undisputed as evidenced by his delivery in ‘Toa Tint.’

Following up on his initial attack on the ‘Micasa Sucasa’ rapper, Octopizzo on Wednesday was at it again with a long social media post mocking his long-standing rap-nemesis.

Octopizzo’s second round of salvos comes after Khaligraph Jones addressed the bleaching issue in the track ‘Toa Tint’ – a sample of Future’s banger ‘Mask Off.’

This was Octopizzo’s interesting tale:

“Once upon a time there was 2 Amigos, one of them was called Omolo, Omolo was a shot FAT BLACK kid, he always talked very fast and caught feelings easily.

Daddy Owen: What I Think About Willy Paul and Bahati Being Snubbed by Groove

$

0

Award-winning gospel musician Daddy Owen has voiced his opinion on the recent snub of Willy Paul and Bahati by Groove Awards.

The two “gospel”artists have been snubbed for the second time in a row, illustrating once again that they are not up to the standards of true gospel music.

According to Daddy Owen, there could be a number of reasons why the former big winners at previous Groove Awards have been locked out.

“Maybe this was their plan all along, not to be caught in Groove Awards, or they are changing what they are doing, or they feel that they are right and other people are wrong,” he said.

He further noted that true gospel music contributes to an artist’s longevity in the industry.

“The difference is if you do true gospel music, you’re always there, longevity, no one can beat you on that,” he added, citing Mercy Masika.

He concluded: “Let people judge you on your content and not sideshows because they are very expensive, and one day they will work against you and people will never believe you. You can’t maintain or sustain your career with sideshows. That’s the problem.”

Following conflicting reports about his next destination, it is now apparent that Nick, who is also a voice-over artist, will be stepping into Jalango’s gigantic shoes.

Nick’s new co-host Alex Mwakideu yesterday introduced him on social media in a snap taken at Radio Maisha offices. The pic also shows Nick spotting a Standard Group job tag, meaning he will be going on air real soon.

Nick joins Radio Maisha after working at Classic 105 for 10 and a half years.

He will have big shoes to fill in if Radio Maisha’s listeners’ reaction to Jalang’o’s exit is anything to go by.

Jalang’o, a comedian and events organizer, together with co-presenter Alex Mwakideu commanded a huge following owing to their incredible chemistry.

Nick will, therefore, have his work cut out for him in trying to reach his predecessor’s heights.

SG had initially approached Kazungu Matano aka Captain Otoyo Sibuor alias Awinja, who co-presents the morning show on Milele FM, to replace Jalang’o on the show but a deal could not be reached.

Jalas is now co-hosting alongside Jeff Koinange at Royal Media Services’ Hot 96.
